Coming back to this blog from a short hiatus, I’m excited to inform you about a few recent and upcoming developments that I’ve been working hard to implement to even further improve the top-rate services available through my practice. As this website evolves, I look forward to bringing you the most up-to-date, technologically advanced membership benefits. One development to look forward to is the addition of the Patient Portal, where you can confidentially and quickly access your medical history, prescription information and patient records. Members can expect to receive additional information as this new tool is integrated and introduced.

In the meantime, here are three more impressive news items of note from 2011:

1. I became recertified through the American Board of Internal Medicine. Although I do not “specialize” in Geriatric Medicine, I have been recertified three times since 1989. This allows me to better care for all of us as we age through the decades. Many of my longtime patients can attest to that. If we remain healthy from 40 to 50, and 50 to 60, and so on, we stand a better chance of remaining healthy and functional for years to come.

The American Board of Medical Specialties data reveals that in the state of Florida, there are only approximately 50 doctors who have maintained active certification in the study of healthy aging and geriatric medicine since 1989. I am proud to be a member of that group. It does matter in patient care.

2. This is the first year of the Florida Atlantic University College of Medicine. I continue to take an active part in the education of tomorrow’s physicians. I have taken part in the education of pre-medical students since the early ‘90s, including the FAU/University of Miami medical students since 2004.

3. I was awarded once again the Castle-Connolly Top Doctors Award in 2011 and continue my presence in Marquis’ Who’s Who in Medicine. These honors are not purchased, but are strictly from peer physician nominations.

Going forward, I’m seeking your input for upcoming blog posts and e-newsletter topics. I’m interested in addressing your interests and needs. You can explore the website to provide me with feedback on available services and ask any questions you might have; for example, many people are interested to learn more about the ongoing and highly successful Lifestyles Management Weight Reduction and Maintenance Program. You can also use the Consult the Doctor form to contact me promptly and directly. As always, your messages sent through my website are completely confidential.
